Wedding seating chart templates you can print

Blank grids for the tables you actually rented, with the seat count and the spacing rule on each one. Print the page, write the names in pencil, and keep the seat numbers — the numbers are what makes the chart redoable when a reply changes.

What should a wedding seating chart template include?

Three things: the table shape and seat count you actually rented, a blank seat for every chair, and the spacing rule for the room. A template without the seat count is a drawing. Ours are the grids below — round tables are 8 seats at 60 inches and 10 at 72, banquet tables are 8 at 6 feet and 10 at 8 feet.

The grids

One row per table. Seat numbers run clockwise from the chair nearest the door, so the printout matches the room when you walk it.

5 ft between table centres; 54 in behind each chair

72-inch round — 10 seats

The guest-list format that imports

Two columns are enough — guest, household. If your spreadsheet already has more, keep it; the import reads names and households and ignores the rest.

Where a template runs out

A template is a picture with names typed into it. The moment the list moves — a late plus-one, a party that outgrows its table, two guests who cannot share a table — the picture is wrong and you are editing instead of planning. That is the whole gap between a template and a seating chart generator: one holds names, the other holds rules.

Are these templates free to print?

Yes. Print this page, or copy the grid into a document. The seating that goes on them is the part we charge for, once per wedding.

How many seats should each table have?

Eight at a 60-inch round, ten at a 72-inch round, eight at a 6-foot banquet table, ten at an 8-foot. Wide chairs, plated service and a large centrepiece all push the count down by one.

What is the guest-list format for importing?

Two columns are enough: guest name and household. Add a third for dietary needs if the venue asked. Any spreadsheet exports to that shape.

When does a template stop being enough?

When the list changes after you have filled it in, or when someone cannot sit at the same table as someone else. A template holds what you typed; it does not know the rules.
